The University of North Carolina at Pembroke seeks applications and nominations for the position of Chancellor.

Founded in 1887 as a school for the education of American Indians, The University of North Carolina at Pembroke now serves the most diverse student body in the University of North Carolina System and encourages inclusion and appreciation for the values of all people. UNC Pembroke exists to promote excellence in teaching and learning, at the graduate and undergraduate levels, in an environment of free inquiry, interdisciplinary collaboration, and rigorous intellectual standards. UNC Pembroke also serves as a cultural, social, educational and economic nexus for the region it serves and takes seriously its pivotal leadership role in the community.

One of 17 constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina System, UNC Pembroke enrolls approximately 5,900 undergraduate and over 700 graduate students, supports a full-time faculty of 328, and offers 41 undergraduate and 17 graduate programs. With a student-faculty ratio of 17:1 and the average class size of approximately 22 students, Pembroke is able to treat each student as an individual. The University is located in Robeson County, one of the most diverse counties in the nation and the political and cultural center of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina – the state’s largest American Indian tribe.
