POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

 

Position:

Director of Eastern Illinois University’s new Interdisciplinary Center for Global Diversity (ICGD)

Eastern Illinois University invites applications for an eleven-month tenure-track appointment as the Director of a new Interdisciplinary Center for Global Diversity, with a starting date of July 1, 2008. The ICGD is an exciting initiative to support creative and scholarly collaborations on issues of global diversity on campus and bring them to the attention of the public. The Center will sponsor speakers, symposia, exhibitions, performances and other programming that will engage the autonomous African American, Latin-American, Asian and Women’s Studies Programs, along with academic departments across campus, in collaborative efforts.

 

Qualifications:

The Director of ICGD will also serve as the Coordinator of the African American Studies Program. Overall responsibility will usually consist of 75% administrative/25% instruction. We are looking for candidates with demonstrated abilities in curriculum development, budget management, interdisciplinary collaboration, shared governance, and grant writing. In addition, candidates should be able to demonstrate achievement and potential in both teaching and scholarship at the university level. A terminal degree in an academic discipline, with one or more areas of specialization clearly relating to issues of global diversity, must be completed by the start of the appointment.
